Cosmetic dentistry provides a variety of excellent options to achieve a better smile. Bonding, teeth whitening, veneers and implants address specific dental imperfections that can leave your smile looking more brilliant.
Teeth whitening
As we age, teeth can naturally become stained or discolored. Smoking, specific medications, coffee, and tea can take an extra toll on the color of your teeth. An in-office whitening treatment includes having a custom fitted mouthpiece tray used to hold whitening solution against your teeth. The in-office treatment may take only one to two visits while an at-home treatment will take a few weeks. After your teeth have been whitened, they can still become stained if exposed to the substances that originally caused the discoloration.
Veneers
Veneers are custom-made shells produced from porcelain or plastic. They are fitted over the front of the teeth to alter shape and color. Veneers are a good option for people who have teeth that: have spaces, are chipped, crooked, stained, or badly shaped.
Implants
Implants are more expensive than other cosmetic surgery options, but they will last much longer too. If you are missing a tooth, an implant may be an excellent option for you. Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone and include three specific parts: a titanium metal post which melds to the jaw bone; an abutment that fits over the portion of the implant above the gum; and the crown, a one of a kind ‘tooth’ specially made to match the color and size of the surrounding teeth.
Bonding
Bonding is used for teeth that have extra space between them, are chipped, stained, or misshapen. During a bonding procedure, an etching solution and composite resins are applied directly to the tooth. The treatment typically takes only one office visit.
